In the Vehicle Inspection Test Lane, weighing is an important test item, at the same time, the calculation and evaluation of Brake Efficiency also needs to refer to the weighing value. For testing equipment on the market, there are two ways to achieve weighing inspection, one is a separate weighing bench, and the other is to compound the weighing function to the Roller Brake Tester. Jevol uses the latter.
Let’s take a look at the relationship between vehicle axle load and braking force.
The heavier the load of a vehicle on the road, the greater the Brake Force required. Therefore, whether the braking of a car is qualified is directly related to the weight of the vehicle, which is what we often call Brake Efficiency, expressed by formula:
Brake Efficiency = Brake Force / Weight.
Jevol uses corundum rollers. This coating material is to increase the adhesion of the tire to the roller, the greater the adhesion, the more accurate the measured Brake Force. We know that the amount of roller adhesion is related to the weight it carries. The lighter the weight, the adhesion will decrease with the weight, and in the case of small adhesion, the vehicle is prone to slip on the rotating roller when braking, so that the obtained Brake Force is small. Conversely, the greater the weight, the greater the adhesion and the greater the measured Brake Force.
However, the Brake Force will not increase infinitely with the increase of weight, when reaching the critical value of the vehicle braking system, the Brake Force no longer changes, at this time, increasing the weight of the vehicle will make the Brake Efficiency drop sharply, affecting the braking performance. If the measured Brake Force is too small, we can increase the appropriate load, for example: to lift the vehicle through Brake Tester with Axle load Simulation; or take more passengers. In any case, the Brake Efficiency cannot be calculated from the weight before loading and the Brake Force after loading, but the weight of the vehicle when measuring the Brake Force on the Brake Tester, must be obtained to calculate the most realistic Brake Efficiency.
Therefore, we do not recommend using a separate Weighing Tester, but should combine the weighing on the Brake Tester.
